The University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure earning assistant scientist, associate scientist, or scientist to conduct research in the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL).

Located on the main campus in Orlando, the role supports cutting-edge research in high-power diode lasers and optical systems with opportunities for collaboration across departments.

Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in Optics/Photonics, Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Hands-on experience with free-space optical systems and alignment.
• Understanding of Gaussian beam propagation, diffraction and imaging.
• Experience with semiconductor lasers and laser components.
• Ability to independently align, characterize and optimize complex free-space optical setups.

Aufgaben

• Develop, align, characterize and optimize advanced optical and photonic experimental platforms.
• Collaborate with the Semiconductor Diode Laser Group to advance external-cavity coupling and phase locking.
• Conduct experiments and combine with modeling of nonlinear laser dynamics.
• Contribute to training, documentation, and dissemination of research results.
