Job summary

Compass Connections in Robstown, TX seeks a compassionate Youth Services Specialist to support safe housing and life-skills for children aged 5–17. You will design individualized plans, coordinate school activities, and help maintain a positive, orderly learning environment.

Requirements: high school diploma, 1+ year in related field; preferred bachelor’s in behavioral sciences, CPR/First Aid; bilingual English/Spanish; able to travel between locations.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; bachelor’s preferred in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services.
• 1+ year of progressive experience in leadership, supervision, training, case management or teaching.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet federal/state regulations applicable to the position.
• Design individualized, age-appropriate life skills plans for children ages 5–17.
• Develop and maintain a Monthly Activity Calendar with foster care school team.
• Coordinate volunteers and church groups with program director approval.
• Maintain inventory and purchase supplies/equipment for life-skills activities.
• Participate in staff meetings and assist with meetings, events, and groups.
• Track and report educational information for quarterly reports.
• Use positive behavior management techniques and de-escalation.
• Maintain safe, orderly learning environments for children.
• Document children’s progress and provide weekly/monthly updates.
• Implement Compass Connections safety protocols for emergencies.
• Maintain confidentiality in all operations and adhere to policies.

Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.2. Design individualized, age-appropriate life skills plans for children ages 5 through 17.3. In collaboration with the foster care school team, develop and maintain a Monthly Activity Calendar for children.4. Coordinate volunteer and church group participation and activities with outside resources and with Program Director approval.5. Maintain an inventory and purchase as necessary the supplies and equipment needed to provideexperiential life skills to children.6. Participate in community and staff meetings and as a member of the school program staff assist with meetings, special events, support groups and other activities.7. Track and provide educational information and statistics for quarterly reports.8. Use positive child management techniques including verbal redirection and de-escalation, and positive reenforcement.9. Maintain safe and orderly learning environment for children.10. Document children’s process in activities and provide updates during weekly, monthly meetings or reports as needed.11. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.12. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.13. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, clients, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.Other Responsibilities:1. Evaluate and re-evaluate the life skills needs of the service population.2. Develop, schedule and present life skills curriculum that meet the needs of the service population.3. Research and network with community providers to continually expand the resources necessary to effectively deliver life skills training.4. Travel from one location to another daily.5. Meet predetermined deadlines and reporting requirements for the position.Requirements:1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.4. Demonstrate skills in providing effective, hands-on leadership.5. Demonstrate knowledge of current educational best practices for service population.6. Demonstrate the ability to:a.
