Job summary

Good Shepherd Pet Hospital in Odessa, FL is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our busy team. The role offers flexible full-time or part-time hours with compensation based on experience.

You will perform venipuncture, assist with surgeries, monitor anesthesia, take digital radiographs, process labs, and maintain medical records while delivering compassionate care to pets and their families. A rotating Saturday schedule is required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience.
  • Experience with blood draws and IV catheter placement.
  • Knowledge of surgical preparation and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented approach to patient and client care.
  • Availability to participate in rotating Saturday schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and placing IV catheters.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with patient recovery.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments as directed.
  • Take digital radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples.
  • Provide safe and compassionate patient restraint.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment notes.
  • Review discharge instructions and communicate with clients about patient care.
  • Help maintain an organized and efficient treatment area and hospital workflow.

What You’ll Do
