Job summary

Alliance Animal Health is seeking a skilled veterinary technician in New York to triage patients, collect and analyze lab samples, and assist with radiology and anesthesia. You will provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases and communicate treatment plans to clients.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years of experience, anesthesia exposure, and strong knowledge of veterinary terminology. This role is full-time with comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • 3 years of previous experience in veterinary settings (required).
  • Anesthesia experience is required.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
  • Familiarity with pet care practices and techniques.
  • Proficiency in handling and restraining animals safely and effectively.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures and sample collection.
  • Ability to operate X-ray equipment and develop X-ray films.
  • Knowledge of basic animal husbandry (feeding, exercise, hygiene).

Responsibilities

  • Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples and assist diagnostic imaging.
  • Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying stability.
  • Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
  • Assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and team.

Job duties
  • Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
  • Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Experience:
  • Previous experience working as a veterinary technician or in a related field: 3 years (Required)
  • Anesthesia experience required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30-$35/hr
