Bayside Veterinary Care, a full-service small animal practice located in Barrington, Rhode Island, is seeking an experienced part-time veterinary receptionist, with the potential for full-time in the future.

We are a progressive, patient-centered practice with an emphasis on comprehensive, compassionate care and client education. Our facility is equipped with the latest technology including: IDEXX Cornerstone software, IDEXX digital x-ray, IDEXX in-house lab equipment, digital color ultrasound, tonometry, all parameters of anesthesia monitoring (including ET CO2), a full in-house and online pharmacy, and dental x-ray.

Our staff is comprised of mature, thoughtful and drama-free professionals who work together as a team. In keeping with our dedication to providing Fear-free care to our patients, we strive to maintain an upbeat, congenial attitude while delivering top quality medical care.

The right candidate should be respectful, eloquent, independent-thinking, and a team player. General abilities must include a firm grasp of veterinary terminology; strong computer skills, client communication, and consistently gentle caregiving. This position includes Saturdays and evening hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Client communication
    • Client education

    • Clear and effective communication in person, in writing and over the phone
    • Maintenance of accurate client contact information
    • Accurate message taking and timely reporting
    • Awareness of practice protocols for appropriate schedule of patient care
    • Appointment confirmation
    • Accurate invoicing and payment collection
    • Understanding of software and technology used in job performance
    • Additional administrative duties as requested
    • Remain detail-oriented while performing multiple unrelated tasks
    • End of day procedures
  • Patient Care
    • Maintaining welcoming and clean examination rooms
    • Communication of patient needs and comfort level to doctor
    • Communication of client concerns to doctor
    • Communication of medical instructions to client
    • Accurate labeling and recording of dispensed medications
    • Ensuring cleanliness of patients
    • Providing appropriate and safe elimination opportunities for all patients
    • Accurate medical record keeping and maintenance
    • Ensure all samples, lab results or records are given to doctor as needed
    • Maintain and stock retail area
