Job summary
Bedford Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. You will support veterinarians and technicians with a range of clinical tasks, client communication, and patient handling.
Responsibilities include restraining pets with low-stress techniques, triage, lab sample collection, radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and preparing for surgery while ensuring clear treatment plans with clients.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
- Proficiency in restraint, lab work, and assisting with procedures.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to work weekends and adapt to a busy clinic.
Responsibilities
- Safely restrain pets using low-stress techniques.
- Triage and intake of incoming patients.
- Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, fecal).
- Assist with radiographs and diagnostic imaging.
- Administer medications and monitor patients.
- Support nursing care for hospitalized/medical cases.
- Prepare patients and instruments for surgery; assist in procedures.
- Monitor patients under anesthesia.
- Communicate treatment plans to clients with empathy.
