Job summary

Animal Emergency Clinic of Springfield is seeking experienced veterinary assistants for late evening shifts (6 pm - 12 am / 2 am) and some weekend shifts. Shift differential is available!

Duties include restraining pets, triage, lab sample collection and analysis, imaging, nursing care, administration of medications, communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical assistance, and anesthesia management. Background checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience as a veterinary assistant or technician.
• Weekend shift availability required.
• High work ethic and positive attitude as a team member.
• Compassionate and calm team-player.
• Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
• Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
• Proficient in sample collection including blood, urine, fecal, and skin.
• Ability to set-up and process laboratory samples and tests.
• Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs.
• Experienced in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
• Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills.
• Able to receive feedback professionally to maintain hospital efficiency.

The Animal Emergency Clinic of Springfield provides emergency and critical care services when they are needed most. Our clinic is proudly supported by the Springfield veterinary community and is operational during hours when most regular veterinary practices are closed.We are open 24/7 to attend to emergencies as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
