Veterinary Assistant

Newaygo Veterinary Services was founded in 1981 and takes pride in the excellent care and service we provide to the community. We are a small animal hospital, 3-Doctor practice looking to add to our compassionate, driven, and collaborative team.

We are actively seeking a Veterinary Assistant with 2 to 4 years of experience to join our knowledgeable, and skilled team. This full-time position offers a 4-day work week with 32-40 hours a week. We are looking for an assistant with experience in surgical prep, post-op monitoring, and efficient in taking history and doing initial work-ups, but are willing to train the right individual. Daily expectations would include, but not limited to: history taking, assisting Doctor in examinations, retrieving laboratory samples and diagnostics, assisting LVT with surgical prep and post-op care, dental radiograph development, assisting with hospitalized patients, prescription refills, venipuncture, assisting Customer Service Representatives with phone overflow, client education, and technician appointments.

Qualified candidates should have;

• Prior veterinary hospital experience 2 to 4 years
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Punctual
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Excellent computer skills and comfortable with general office equipment
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Accurate medical records and documentation
• Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.
• Ability to lift 50lbs repetitively during the day
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Positively interact with clients
• Compassionate, committed, and motivated

Pay

$14-$18/hour depending on experience
