Job description

Progressive Animal Wellness is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, reliable team player who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment — primarily supporting the exam room with some surgical time built into the schedule. In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.
Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
  • Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

This role is ideal for assistants who enjoy variety in their day, are confident moving between exam room and procedural support, and want to fully utilize their clinical skillset and client communication abilities in a collaborative, fast‑paced general practice environment.

Schedule and compensation:
  • Compensation: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour, for each hour worked
  • Schedule: This is a full‑time position, with a 4 x 10 schedule, currently Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, with one to two rotating Saturdays per month (8:00 AM–1:00 PM). No on‑call requirements.

  • Bonus package: $500 based on 3+ years of recent & consecutive veterinary assistant or technician experience

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
  • 1+years of veterinary technician or assistant work experience
  • Proficiency in the following skills:

    • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
    • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
