Bedford Veterinary Medical Center is a state-of-the-art, multi-doctor hospital that offers personal, progressive, and comprehensive animal care to dogs, cats, and pocket pets in the Southern New Hampshire area. Our hospital offers many services including annual wellness care, anesthesia and sedation, dentistry, internal medicine, laser therapy, in-house pharmacy, surgery, urgent/immediate care, and acupuncture.

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday - Friday: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Saturday: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Sunday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
  • Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.
  • Opportunities for growth through virtual and hands-on, interactive training and continuing development.

Qualifications

We're looking for:

  • An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • Compassionate and calm team-player.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Some weekend availability.
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely.
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
  • A self-starter eager to continue learning and advancing skills.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally.
