VSC Fire & Security in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking an Experienced VESDA Technician/Supervisor to lead field technicians, schedule manpower, and manage installation, testing, and maintenance of fire detection, access control, CCTV, and related systems. Qualifications

  • Competence in reading and interpreting electrical plans, drawings, schematics, and specifications.

Responsible for planning, scheduling, and directing all field personnel in performance of fire detection and alarm equipment, security, and access equipment, closed circuit television and other monitoring devices, nurse call or other safety and security devices. When needed, performs installation tasks, advanced diagnostic, trouble shooting and repair procedures on cables, wiring, connections, and equipment as well as on installed systems and cables. May be responsible for training other Technicians on all aspects of installation, trouble shooting and repair. Provides review for updated or future improvements on existing manufacturers' equipment as required. Integrated Systems may include any of the following: Fire Alarm; Intrusion Detection; Access Control; CCTV; IP Cameras; Networking Infrastructure; Telecom; BDA (Bi-Directional Antenna systems); DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems); Audio/Video; Nurse Call; Area of Refuge; Intercom; Crestron; Extron; Honeywell; Notifier; Gamewell FCI; Silent Knight; Fire Lite; Siemens; AutoCall/JCI; or RATH.

What you need:

    • Working knowledge of fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and structured cabling systems.
What you will do:
  • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, discipline, and terminate field employees, including helpers, apprentices, and alarm technicians. May also supervise warehouse personnel and purchasing coordinator.
  • Monitor work schedules, safety, and approve documentation for payroll and work-related incidents or injuries.
  • Identify individuals with potential, encourage apprenticeship and NICET training, and offer skill development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Design, Sales, and Purchasing personnel for pre-construction, installation, and close-out phases of contracts.
  • Maintain communication with owners, representatives, and other contractors regarding work schedules, progress reports, change orders, and critical factors.
  • Visit sites as necessary to check progress and fulfill contractual commitments.
  • Communicate with owners, representatives, AHJs, and building inspectors to resolve compliance issues and represent client's interests.
  • Handle client disagreements tactfully, patiently, and with integrity.
  • Assist sales personnel in evaluating labor requirements, material costs, and project management needs.
  • Quote service, repair, or renovation requests for new and existing customer contacts.
  • Ensure department personnel follow site-specific and company safety standards.
  • Report all accidents and injuries promptly and follow up on lost-time injuries.
  • Ensure personnel have necessary tools, equipment, and adhere to safety requirements.
  • Ensure field personnel with company vehicles comply with driving regulations and truck maintenance.
  • Coordinate safety training program with Safety Director and Risk Manager. Provide in-service training and certification.
  • Maintain knowledge of current OSHA standards and complete OSHA supervisor training.
  • Review and reinforce standard operating procedures and address behavior that raises job-site liability or property damage risks.
