SUMMARY

Operation of grooming equipment to build and finish various terrain features. Distribute snow on slopes to offer our guests the safest, most skiable, desirable and fun terrain possible. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee's job is to get and keep guests. Experience as a Terrain Park Groomer, at least two seasons, preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construction and maintenance of snow and non-snow terrain features in the terrain parks and other locations where applicable
  • Maintenance, monitoring, and evaluation of terrain parks including: signage and markings, terrain features on the hill, snowboard benches, etc., including their repair and construction
  • To provide ongoing evaluation and feed back, both visually and physically, of terrain features and, including construction and maintenance to Director
  • To assure nightly maintenance is performed as necessary to all features
  • To assist in freestyle special events
  • Night operation grooming to provide consistent well maintained features in all weather conditions
  • Creative input as to design, layout and flow
  • Ability to move rails, boxes and other items with forks safely and without damage
  • Paperwork to be completed daily
  • Design terrain features with dozer, tiller and tracked equipment to finished product
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Maintains an awareness of surroundings and safest way to navigate the equipment by evaluating all directions and safety information available at all times.
  • Completes all tasks safely with no damage to equipment or to areas of work
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the equipment; how it operates and the safest way to operate the equipment by recording all information and by constant attention.
  • Maintains a focus on quality of product, awareness of hazards both personally and to the equipment, and safely executing all functions by evaluating immediate surroundings, keeping distractions inside equipment to a minimum (i.e. radio volume, enough rest, passengers, food).
  • The proficient use of vehicle attachments like compactor bars, tillers, and blades.
  • Maintain the assigned equipment in a routine manner.
  • Keep records of operations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Flexible working hours. Some job sharing may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
  • 1 . Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee guests at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
  • Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or GED, 18 years or older
  • Must have at least 2 years experience building, maintaining and designing small to large Terrain Park features
  • Grooming experience minimum of 2 years in a snowcat
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Possess terrain park knowledge and experience with skiing or snowboarding through terrain parks
  • Ability to adhere to all safety policies
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Driver's license needed to operate loader.

  • Must be able to walk on uneven slick conditions in extreme inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to operate a snow cat to build all aspects of Terrain Park; must be able to sit for long periods of time as well as climb in and out of snowcats cabs - must have a valid driver's license
