Typical Day

As you inspire people to make confident, informed decisions about their lives, careers, and money, you’ll build client relationships that grow stronger every year. Joining H&R Block as a Remote Tax Professional means you’ll serve clients with diverse tax needs and you’ll have the support of an expert team, dedicated to providing you with advanced tax training you’ll need to be successful.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tax interviews with clients using virtual tools (video conferencing, phone, chat, email).
• Generate business growth, increase client retention, and offer additional products and services.
• Coordinate regularly with leaders and peers about how remote work impacts results; teamwork is essential to success.
• Grow your tax expertise and stay current with tax laws and policies.
• Provide tax planning and audit support as applicable.

Qualifications

• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification.
• Experience completing complex tax returns and individual tax returns.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax.
• Experience conducting virtual tax interviews that instill confidence in clients.
• Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours a week during peak tax season.
• Access to high-speed, reliable internet; proficiency with technology (MS Teams and Outlook).
• Effective communication of complex tax situations via phone, email and chat; strong customer service skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to research information using tax tools and publications.
• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or equivalent; high school diploma or higher.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS and state requirements as applicable.
