  • Perform professional structural engineering work and assist with research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits.
  • Participate in incorporating advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for safety and functionality of end‑users and vehicles, and incorporate future‑ready solutions with structural engineering design standards.
  • Work individually or as part of a cross‑functional team to execute project work, assist with laying out installations, establishing reference points/elevations/grades, selecting materials for durability, calculating costs and quantities, and ensuring conformity with specifications, permits, and regulatory analysis.
  • Verify the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on securing structural soundness from loads and pressures caused by environmental or human influence.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for interpretation or presentation.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with development and scoping of small‑to‑medium‑sized projects.

  • Conduct engineering studies and surveys to gather information on design and construction challenges or to plan for future needs.
  • Assist in analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting site investigation data, offering input for low‑to‑mid‑level risk mitigation activities.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on federally, state‑, regionally, locally, and privately funded projects.
  • Mentor and support junior team members through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and application to project work‑related issues.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design.
  • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
  • Knowledge of sustainability concepts and reducing hazardous substances/greenhouse gas.
  • Knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
