Job summary

SunnyMac Solar is expanding its Service Department with a skilled Solar Service Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve residential PV system issues efficiently and correctly the first time.

This not an entry-level role requires clean workmanship, strong electrical knowledge, and professional communication with homeowners to ensure top-tier homeowner experience and NEC-compliant field practices.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving history.
• 3+ years of solar installation or service experience.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working on energized systems.
• Solid understanding of NEC requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Professional communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair residential PV systems.
• Diagnose inverter faults (Enphase, SolarEdge, string systems).
• Perform inverter replacements, MPU upgrades, breaker replacements, and surge protection installs.
• Identify root causes of system underperformance — not just symptoms.
• Read and interpret plan sets and as-built drawings.
• Complete service documentation accurately and thoroughly.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with homeowners.
• Maintain NEC-compliant, clean, and safe work environments.
• Minimize revisit rates through proper diagnostics and quality workmanship.
• Work efficiently to reduce drive time and maximize billable time.
