Position Overview

The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Software Engineer to join the National Systems Programs (NSP) software capability team located in Seal Beach, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The selected candidate will perform full‑stack development using AWS infrastructure, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to design and implement scalable software solutions. The role involves the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and development to maintenance and support of the delivered system for our customers.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain web applications that meet industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
• Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial design of software products.
• Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software products and functionalities for system integrations.
• Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products.
• Participate in the agile software development lifecycle including planning, reviews, and supporting customer meetings.
• Analyze, characterize, debug, and resolve performance‑related issues to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.
• Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze user feedback.
• Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software development.
• Develop, establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align with organization goals and industry benchmarks.
• Execute and document software research and development projects.
• Advise on software domains, system‑specific issues, processes, and regulations.
• Perform software project management activities and software supplier management functions.
• Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance with project plans and industry standards.
• Perform cost‑benefit analysis to guide technical solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated polygraph.
• 2+ years of foundational Computer Science knowledge.
• 2+ years of experience in Python.
• 2+ years of experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript, including frameworks like React.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science program and 5+ years of related work experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 9+ years of experience, or 13+ years of experience.
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Experience with agile development and structured development processes.
• Experience in infrastructure tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
• Experience building regression test suites.
• Experience in systems engineering or software development on space‑based or ground‑based systems.

Additional Details

• Location: Seal Beach, California (100% onsite).
• Occasional travel may be required, less than 10%.
• Shift: 1st shift.
• Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship required).

Pay & Benefits

Summary Pay Range/Experienced: $143,100 - $174,900. Pay is based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations.
