Job summary

Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville is seeking an Experienced Service Technician to join our climate-controlled service facility. You will perform diagnostics, service, and repairs to manufacturer specifications, including warranty work, while maintaining clear communication with Service Advisors about status and time estimates.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of automotive technician experience, A-Level certifications (diagnostic, electrical, engine repair), and a Mercedes-Benz or luxury-brand

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive Service Technician experience.
• A-Level certifications including Diagnostic, Electrical, and Engine Repair; Mercedes-Benz or luxury brand certification preferred.
• Strong ability to master new vehicle technology and digital diagnostic tools.
• High school diploma and a valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Responsibilities

• Execute repairs and diagnostics to manufacturer specifications, including warranty work.
• Diagnose systems using OEM diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot engine, transmission, electrical, and climate control systems.
• Test-drive vehicles and verify repairs to ensure quality.
• Communicate clearly with Service Advisors to inform customers about status and estimated repair time.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Repairs: Perform high-quality automotive diagnostics, service, and repairs specified on repair orders with efficiency and to manufacturer specifications (including warranty work).
• Diagnose Systems: Utilize advanced OEM electronic diagnostic equipment and special service tools to troubleshoot engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and climate control systems.
• Test & Verify: Test-drive vehicles and test critical components to ensure all repairs are completed accurately.
• Collaborate: Communicate directly and transparently with Service Advisors to keep customers accurately informed on vehicle status and additional repair time estimates.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of automotive Service Technician experience required.
• Certifications: A-Level qualifications (including Diagnostic, Electrical, and Engine Repair expertise). Mercedes-Benz or luxury brand certification is highly preferred.
• Tech-Savvy: Ability to master new vehicle technology, repair procedures, and digital diagnostic tools.
• Requirements: High school diploma (or equivalent) and a valid driver’s license with a clean, acceptable driving record.
• Mindset: A positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong focus on shop safety and efficiency.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Physical Capability: Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must routinely lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
• Shop Environment: Work is performed in a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled service facility. Technicians are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, diagnostic chemicals, and standard shop noise levels.
