First Student, Inc. is hiring a Part-Time School Van Driver in Middle Island, NY. You will start students' days with morning pickups and transport them home in the afternoons while maintaining safety and order.

No prior experience is required; comprehensive training is offered and state DOT compliance is observed. This role features a part-time schedule with potential field trips and events.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
• Part-time schedule; Mondays–Fridays; summers off not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Assist students with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus and supervise boarding/unloading.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean.

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 for experienced credential drivers; 3,000 for new drivers*

As a Part Time School Van Driver, you will play a vital role in your community and the lives of students. You will start students' days with morning pickup before school and transport them safely back home in the afternoon. Additional hours for field trips and special event transportation may be available.

Your day as a School Van Driver will include:

• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist students with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.
• Obey all traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays.
• Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.
