UPMC Hamot, a Magnet-designated hospital, is currently seeking RNs for their Med Surg units! These opportunities offer a robust nursing career ladder with potential for growth and advancement. We are hiring for both Full-Time and Part-Time positions.

Sign-On Bonus Details (Full Time or Flex Full Time status): Title and salary will be determined based on education and nursing experience.

Med/Surg Units at UPMC Hamot
  • Observation/Short Stay Acute Care Unit (3 South): 23 beds for patients post outpatient treatment, procedures, or emergency care, including low trauma, respiratory issues, post-surgical care, and infusions.
  • Trauma and Orthopedic Acute Care Unit (4 South): 23 beds caring for trauma, bone injuries, infections, and deformities.
  • Medical Respiratory Intermediate Unit (MRIU): Focused on trauma and respiratory patients requiring higher-level care but not critical care, including ventilated patients and those needing dialysis.
  • Transitional Support Unit (4 North): 11 beds for stable patients awaiting discharge, ideal for nurses interested in diverse inpatient care.
  • Cardiac Acute Care Unit (5 South): 46 beds with cardiac and complex medical patients, equipped with bedside monitors and capable of post-invasive procedure care.
  • Cardiovascular, Renal Transplant, and Surgical Specialty Acute Care Unit (6 South): 43 beds, including step-down for higher acuity, post-op cardiothoracic, vascular, and transplant patients.
  • Medical/Oncology Acute Care Unit (7 South): 46 beds for adult and geriatric oncology patients, including chemotherapy, transfusions, and dialysis.
  • Neurology and Neurosurgical Acute Care Unit (8 South): 20 beds for neurological and neurosurgical patients, including intermediate and epilepsy monitoring beds.
  • Colorectal and Urology Acute Care Unit (8 East): 23 beds for medical and post-op care, including wound management and ostomies.

During the application, select areas of interest; not all may have current openings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient and family education, support new staff, and foster an environment of continuous learning.
  • Use the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to develop holistic, patient-centered care plans, demonstrating critical thinking and effective communication.
  • Build productive relationships, demonstrate accountability, and respect cultural differences.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilize evidence-based practices, and aim to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Engage in professional development, shared governance, and adapt to change positively.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • BSN preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
  • ACLS, BLS/CPR, Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation.
  • RN licensure, Act 33, 34, and 73 FBI Clearances, with renewals as required.
