The PICU at St. Luke’s University Hospital – Bethlehem provides advanced care close to home for children. The unit is equipped with the latest technologies and staffed with pediatric intensivists and nurses specially trained to meet the needs of critically ill children and teenagers. Our mission is to provide high-quality, specialized care to critically ill children and their families, maintaining our tradition of personalized and compassionate care.
The newly designed PICU features spacious private rooms with homelike amenities for children and parents. Care is delivered by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team using a patient- and family-centered approach, prioritizing clinical excellence and patient safety.
Positions may be available on various shifts, including weekend programs and per diem options. Full-time positions are 36 or 40 hours per week, and part-time positions are less than 36 hours per week. Holiday and weekend requirements vary by unit and company policies. Candidates must be able to complete initial 7 business days of classroom orientation followed by unit orientation.
Successful completion of an approved Pediatric Critical Care Course during orientation. Minimum of 2 years experience on a pediatric unit, with 1 year PICU experience preferred. Evidence of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) upon completion of orientation. Basic computer skills preferred. Trauma Nurse Course completion within one year of hire is required.

Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Pennsylvania.
Ability to sit up to 2 hours per day, stand up to 8 hours, walk up to 6 hours, and lift objects up to 75 pounds. Must be able to transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs. and perceive attributes through touch, hearing, and vision. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, and other physical activities required.
