Summary of Position:

The Waste Pro Residential Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. Oversees helpers assisting on routes; performs pre-trip and post-trip truck checks; and performs other related work as assigned. Work is performed under supervision, with performance reviewed during and after routes through direct observation and discussion of issues.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Safely drives truck on pre-established routes following Decision Driving principles within prescribed timeframes, collecting and dumping refuse into trucks, and unloading at landfills or transfer stations.
2. Provides a high level of customer service courteously and efficiently, exhibiting a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
3. Ensures proper pickup of garbage and recyclables, including door-to-door service when required, and tags improper refuse containers.
4. Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as per Waste Pro procedures and DOT guidelines, including checks under the hood, undercarriage, and fluid levels.
5. Maintains cleanliness of trucks, washes exterior weekly, and inspects vehicles regularly.
6. Performs manual cleanup of scattered refuse and handles large trash bins using hydraulics.
7. Prepares and submits required reports and documentation.
8. Responsible for all persons working on the vehicle during routes.
9. Complies with all DOT and state requirements for commercial vehicle operators.
10. May be required to work during emergency situations.

Other Responsibilities:

• Participates in training courses as assigned.
• Stays updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Environment:

Works in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, weather, noise, fumes, odors, and dust.

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Understanding of refuse collection policies, DOT, and state requirements.
• Normal hearing and vision, with or without correction.
• Ability to operate refuse trucks and heavy equipment, follow routes, and communicate effectively.

Physical and Special Requirements:

• Able to push/pull and lift 50 pounds frequently.
• Capable of getting in and out of truck and bending repeatedly.
• Able to work 8-12 hours in various weather conditions.
