Job summary

PSC Group is seeking a Railcar Repair Technician to safely handle heavy equipment, railcars, and tracks while completing repairs. The role emphasizes safety and on-the-job training, with potential prerequisites such as a valid Driver’s License or TWIC depending on location.

Experience is a plus and on-the-job training is available. The successful candidate will follow blueprints, apply basic mechanical skills to weld, cut and gouge, and maintain high standards for quality and safety throughout

Qualifications

• Candidates with hands-on mechanical aptitude are preferred.
• Welding, cutting and gouging skills support repairs.
• Ability to read blueprints or schematics.
• Commitment to safety and PPE protocols.
• Fluent English in speaking, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Interpret work orders and follow blueprints to perform repairs.
• Use basic tools to weld, cut and gouge as required.
• Identify materials or equipment needed to complete tasks.
• Adhere to ARS Safety Policies and maintain clean work area.
• Ensure quality standards per ARS, AAR and customer requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to complete tasks.

Railcar Repair Technician

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Interprets job work orders and follows blueprints / schematics to perform required repairs
• Utilizes basic mechanical skills and builds knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut and gouge
• Notifies of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks
• Follows all safety rules, keeps work area clean and complies with all ARS Environmental Health and Safety Policies
• Ensures AAR, ARS and customer quality assurance standards are met
• Completes any other duties as assigned in order to complete the task

Job Qualifications:

• Experience is a plus but not required, and paid on-the-job training is available
• May require a valid Driver’s License and / or a valid TWIC card, depending on work location
• 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
• Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
• Wear all required PPE without restriction and pass any required medical exams
• Speak, write, read fluent English
• Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is required
• Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus
