Job summary

Dow Jones in White Oak, Maryland, is seeking a full-time press operator to join the Print Operations team. You will perform daily press operations for Dow Jones' publications and contract print work, preparing, operating, and maintaining presses and associated equipment to high quality standards.

Based in White Oak, you will report to the Foreman/Woman, participate in training, meet performance standards, and help control materials costs while ensuring production efficiency.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of newspaper press experience.
• Ability to stand for 7.25 hours, lift 50 lbs, kneel and climb stairs.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Good color perception and mechanical aptitude.
• Previous production environment experience, preferably cold web offset printing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare presses for nightly operation of Dow Jones publications.
• Operate presses to improve Production Quality Score (reproduction quality, content freshness, productivity, cost control).
• Maintain communication with supervisor and colleagues to meet department goals.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Meet performance standards and complete assignments.
• Follow corporate and plant policies/practices.
• Keep accurate operational and maintenance records.
• Work with production manager to set equipment maintenance priorities.
• Set up pasters, web presses, push rolls, printing plates; adjust color and registration.
• Meet customer expectations for quality, content freshness and productivity while controlling costs.
