Job summary

Mesa Police Department is recruiting for Police Officer - Lateral In-State and Lateral Out-of-State to establish eligible lists. Officers perform general and specialized duties, protect life and property, enforce laws, investigate, and may assist in training or specialized operations.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, have completed an AZ POST academy and be current or former AZPOST certified peace officers. Salary is tiered based on sworn experience with city adjustments.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Must have completed an AZ P.O.S.T. academy and must currently be, or has been, an AZPOST certified sworn peace officer in good standing.
• Tiered salary available based on sworn peace officer experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general duty police work and specialized assignments as assigned.
• Respond to public safety calls for service and enforce laws.
• Conduct investigations, make arrests, and issue citations or warnings.
• May assist in training and evaluating Police Officer recruits or other specialized operations.
