Job summary

Piedmont Service Group in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Pipefitter to lay out, fabricate, install and maintain piping systems for steam, heating, cooling and process applications. The role requires 4+ years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED preferred.

You will select materials, cut and join pipe, and install fixtures, equipment and HVAC components. Travel to job sites may be required and safety compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED Certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
• Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
• Inspect worksite to determine presence of obstructions and to determine that holes will not cause structural weakness.
• Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
• Cut pipe using bandsaws, pipe cutters, Oxy Acetylene Torch.
• Thread pipe using threading machine.
• Assemble and install a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including: brass, copper, carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Join pipe by means of welded, threaded, soldered, brazed, and pressed.
• Use hand tools to secure pipe to structure with clamps, brackets and hangers.
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including: Chillers, AHU's RTU's Cooling Towers, Pumps, pneumatic controls.
• Test piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
• May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice.
• Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent.
