Job summary

BrightStar Care - Cleveland is hiring a Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for steady hours in Elyria. This role offers consistent dayshift hours, one-on-one pediatric care, and meaningful patient interactions in a home health setting.

You will provide compassionate pediatric care, administer medications (including via J-Tube), monitor clients, and document care while adhering to infection control and safety protocols. Weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Unencumbered Ohio LPN license.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical/home care experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification and TB test or chest X-ray.
• Ability to read, write, speak English and communicate effectively.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds and have up-to-date vaccinations.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pediatric care and assist with ADLs while ensuring safety and comfort.
• Administer medications, including via J-Tube, and monitor tolerance and effectiveness.
• Document all care provided and communicate changes to the supervising nurse.
• Follow individualized care plans to ensure client safety and wellbeing.

We're seeking dedicated Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for ongoing roles. This is perfect for nurses looking for consistent hours and meaningful, one-on-one care with pediatric clients.

Schedule

• Dayshift
• Monday to Friday- 8a-4pm
• Saturday and Sunday: 8a-4pm
• Weekend Support
• Must be available to work in Elyria, Lorain

What You'll Do

Provide compassionate pediatric care & assist with ADLs Administer medications, including J-Tube feeding Deliver consistent, high-quality one-on-one support

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pediatric care, assisting with all ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting) while ensuring safety and comfort.
• Administer medications via J-Tube accurately and monitor for tolerance, side effects, and effectiveness.
• Monitor overall health and development of pediatric clients, reporting changes to the supervising healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all care provided.
• Follow individualized care plans to ensure clients' safety, comfort, and well-being.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the healthcare team regarding care and progress.
• Adhere strictly to all infection control, safety, and hygiene protocols.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a home health setting.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform all skill, treatments, and procedures to the scope of practice as defined in the Nurse Practice Act - Ohio Revised Code (ORC) of clinical practice
• Implement treatment and plan of care, using sound judgement and critical thinking
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation consistent with the plan of care and the nursing processes
• Document observed changes in patient's condition, situation, or care environment, and communicate to the Director of Nursing
• Adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency of employment
• Adhere to HIPAA laws and ensure confidentiality and security of the client's medical information

Job Requirements

• Unencumbered license in the State of Ohio
• Minimum three (1) year of documented clinical experience. Private duty, home care assistance and/or direct care experience at an assisted living or skilled nursing facility, etc., is preferred
• Strong clinical skills. Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
• Certified CPR/BLS and negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
• Licensed driver with reliable and insured automobile (proof of insurance required)
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively
• Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the mobility of the client
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19, Influenza, and Hepatitis B
