Job summary

The City of The Dalles Police Department is seeking an experienced Lateral Patrol Officer to join our team. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to serve a community-focused department.

Applicants must have a state-certified academy, current certification, and sworn experience; responsibilities include patrol, investigations, reporting, and court testimony. Open until filled; first-round interviews for applications received by 08/04/2026.

Qualifications

• State-certified police academy equivalent to Oregon DPSST
• Current police officer certification or eligibility for transfer/reciprocity
• At least 1 year of full-time sworn law enforcement experience
• At least 1 year of experience producing clear written and verbal communication
• Ability to testify in court with credibility and integrity
