Job Description
General Summary
Under the supervision of professional nursing staff, provides direct patient care including taking vital signs, checking surgical dressings, assisting with activities of daily living, performing blood draws, collecting specimens, observing patient status, and communicating needs to the healthcare team.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Manage patient testing and care based on clinical findings and results.
  • Record activities of daily living, vital signs, and patient observations accurately.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Implement cost-effective strategies to improve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed, including fall prevention and a safe environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in patient rooms and work areas.
  • Provide post-mortem care as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to execute the care plan and report changes.
  • Ensure patient comfort and manage pain effectively.
  • Document urinary and stool output, calorie intake, and patient weight.
  • Assist with urinary catheter care, bladder scans, and catheter insertions.
  • Conduct blood glucose monitoring and venipuncture.
  • Perform nasal swabs and set up IV placements.
  • Operate EKG machines and perform related procedures.
  • Assist with enteral feeding, tracheostomy care, and physical therapy tasks.
  • Help with wound care, specimen collection, and orthopedic device management.
  • Mentor and precept new PCTs and other team members.
  • Participate in hourly patient rounding and respond to alarms.
  • Adhere to safety standards and report adverse events.
  • Use proper lifting techniques and improve patient flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience required.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $18.93 - $26.51
  • Shift differential eligibility may apply.
