Job summary

Black Desert Resort in Southern Utah is seeking an Experienced Pastry Cook to create a variety of high-quality pastries and desserts, reporting to the Pastry Chef. You will mentor junior staff and help develop new pastry recipes.

Onsite at Black Desert Resort, this full-time, year-round role offers a pay range of $19.00–$23.00 per hour, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to work with a luxury team in a premier resort setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional pastry kitchen or culinary setting.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent training is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
  • Passion for pastry arts and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods following recipes and guidelines set by the Pastry Chef.
  • Ensure all pastries and baked goods are made to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Assist in the development of new pastry recipes and menu items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory and supplies, ensuring proper storage and minimizing waste.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, performing maintenance or reporting issues as needed.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, conducting regular cleaning and inspections.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Mentor and train junior pastry staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions to stay updated on new techniques and standards.

Job Summary:

An Experienced Pastry Cook at Black Desert Resort is responsible for preparing and creating a variety of high-quality pastries and desserts. This position reports to the Pastry Chef and ensures that all baked goods are made to the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation. The Experienced Pastry Cook also mentors less experienced kitchen staff and contributes to the development of new pastry recipes.

Job Specification:

Location: Onsite at Black Desert ResortShift & Schedule: Year‑Round / Full TimePay Range: $19.00 - $23.00 / hour. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
