Sarasota Memorial Health Care System in Sarasota, FL is seeking experienced Operating Room nurses to join our 36-room OR suite. You will work with anesthesia and an interdisciplinary team delivering patient-centered surgical care across specialties.

We offer individualized orientation, cross-training, CNOR certification incentives, PeriOp 101, and tuition reimbursement. Shift options include day schedules; benefits include PTO, retirement plan, and on-campus dining.

Qualifications

• Previous OR nurse experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• BLS certification required.

• PeriOp 101 completion for those new to the OR.
• Successful completion of multi-specialty orientation.

Job Summary

Welcome to our Operating Room Department!

We provide professional and skilled surgical care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA Standards of Professional Practice, and with the AORN guidelines for Perioperative Practice. We are a 36 OR suite unit with numerous specialties that you can work in.

Operating Room

Patient Population: patients with elective, urgent, and emergent need for a surgical intervention. Routine to traumatic diagnoses requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to:

• Any trauma related fractures or orthopedic abnormalities requiring surgical intervention or traction application, splinting, casts, or other skeletal immobilization.
• Acute Traumatic Brain Injuries.
• Cardiac and Thoracic interventions.
• Acute General Surgical care.
• GYN, GU, Robotic, Oncology, Orthopedic, Podiatry, ENT, Vascular, and Plastics.
• Work in state of the art facility, across the surgical suites.
• Working with Anesthesia and an inter-disciplinary team focused on excellence in patient care.

Work Days/Shifts/Times (8, 10, and 12 hour shifts)

Salary Details:

Hourly rate is determined by years of worked experience as an RN, education level, and internal equity within organization. Minimum rate starting at $35.75, max of salary range is $55.55. In addition to hourly rate, if candidate holds an approved certification position qualifies for certification pay of $1.50.

• 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM

Required Qualifications

• Requires previous experience working as an Operating Room Nurse
• Require excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended for experienced RNs.
• PALS (Pediatric Life Support) recommended for experienced RNs.
• Completion of PeriOp 101 for those new to the OR.
• Successful completion of multi-specialty orientation.
• BSN requirement within 5 years of date of hire for the ASN candidate

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.

Preferred Education

BSN: Bachelor of Science Nursing

Shift needed currently:

• 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM

Work Days/Shifts/Times (8, 10, and 12 hour shifts)

• Night Shift
• Call
• o Call is required for Full-time and part-time positions.
• 2 hour Stay Late (after shift)
• 24-36 hours of call per 4 week pay period.
