Experienced Miner - Miner 3 (East Tennessee Mines)

THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to safely and efficiently advance capital and secondary development waste at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Experienced Miner must be able to perform a minimum of two of the following mining tasks: truck driver, supply hauler/nipper, chute puller, dispatcher, crusher operator, skip tender, hoist man, grader, explosives handler, loader, or mine repairman (utilities).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform pre-shift checks of equipment
• Conduct ongoing workplace inspections
• Assist with wetting and hand-scaling after blasting
• Follow correct loading and dumping procedures
• Follow all MSHA and Nyrstar safety procedures
• Understand the effects of poorly prepared surfaces on tires
• Perform other duties as directed
• Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
• Demonstrate competence in coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to team members
• Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
• Work independently or with limited supervision
• Transport operation supplies including explosives within the mine
• Handle loads of varying sizes and weights

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 2-3 years of mining experience
• Experience in construction and/or operating mining heavy equipment
• Knowledge of mining regulations and statutory responsibilities
• Experience with mine-specific equipment is preferred
