Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Experienced Metrology Equipment Engineer to join our on-site team in Austin, TX. You will monitor wafer fabrication equipment, qualify new systems, and lead data-driven optimization to boost yield and efficiency.

The role requires a BS/MS in engineering/physics/chemistry or related fields, 2+ years in semiconductors, and ability to work in a cleanroom environment. Relocation to Austin and US work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Computer Science.
• 2+ years semiconductor experience (Metrology equipment experience preferred).
• Experience Troubleshooting Equipment or Process failures.
• Exposure to Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc.).
• Understanding of statistical methods.
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language preferred.
• Experience with Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.) preferred.
• Good Presentation and Technical Writing skills.
• Understanding of Change Point Management, and of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
• Ability to wear clean room suit and PPE per fab protocol and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Willing to relocate to Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues.
• Qualify new manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate scheduling of equipment qualifications and downtime with manufacturing.
• Use software to analyze data, identify trends and make processing decisions.
• Make adjustments when parameters are exceeded and monitor after maintenance.
• Execute in-line changes to the process or equipment.
• Communicate technical information within the department through presentations.
• Continuously revise SOPs.
• Develop improved processes to increase capability.
• Monitor operations costs and develop cost reduction projects.

Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience.
