Job summary

Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC (SHM) seeks a skilled Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair boats across the SHM network. You will diagnose electrical, plumbing and water systems, test using diagnostic equipment, and install vessel components with an emphasis on safety and quality.

You should be prepared to work overtime to meet deadlines and contribute to a fast-paced, industry-leading team. SHM offers a full benefits package and hands-on training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2-5 years’ experience preferred.
  • Must possess own tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of marine systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to test electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace and install vessel systems and components.
  • Conduct assessment prior to starting a job, including budgeted time and parts.
  • Possess knowledge of marine electrical, plumbing, and water systems.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.

Technicians inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds. Using diagnostic equipment, test, repair and/or install vessels’ mechanical, electrical, and water systems. Responsibilities and requirements may include but are not limited to the items listed below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair and test electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
  • Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, repairing the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
  • Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
  • Utilize NMEA 200 and other protocols on vessel operating systems
  • Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate work orders
  • Must possess own tools
  • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience preferred
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Any skills considered standard that a Technician (Electrician) should possess
