Job summary

Kidwell is seeking an experienced Experience Low Voltage Estimator to join our Lincoln or Omaha team. You will deliver accurate project proposals for general contractors and Low Voltage customers, working with field staff, pre-sales engineers, vendors, and partners to build reliable estimates for Integrated Systems projects.

The role emphasizes teamwork, analytical thinking, and proactive problem solving, with responsibilities across the full estimating lifecycle and opportunities to influence

Qualifications

  • requires Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years low voltage experience.
  • Proven experience as a Low Voltage Estimator.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; willingness to learn estimation software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all stages of an estimate including organization, take-off, pricing, proposal generation, reviews, change orders, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with pre-sales, field engineering, vendors and partners to build accurate labor and material estimates.
  • Create, analyze, and maintain quantities and take-offs from plans/specifications.
  • Provide cost-estimating improvements to reduce discrepancies between estimates and actual costs.
  • Identify cost trends to aid management in cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Lead estimating processes on specific bids and negotiate pricing with subs/vendors.

Kidwell is seeking an experienced and driven candidate to fill the position of Experience Low Voltage Estimator in our Lincoln or Omaha location. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of project proposals for Kidwell’s partnering general contractors and Low Voltage customers. The ideal candidate will work with Kidwell’s field and pre- sales engineering staff, as well as Kidwell’s vendors and partners, in order to build professional and accurate estimates for Kidwell’s Integrated Systems projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently and effectively performs all stages of an estimate including estimate organization, take-off, pricing, proposal generation, reviews, change orders, closeout.
  • Thisposition works withpre-sales and field engineering staff inorder to build a proposal that includes an accurate estimateof labor and material. Thisposition alsoworks with Kidwell’s existingvendors andpartnersforlocating and tracking availabilityofrelevant materialfor the successful installationof Kidwell’s low voltage projects.
  • Creates, analyzes, and maintains correct and accurate quantities and thorough take-offs from plans/specifications.
  • Provides improvementrecommendations tocost estimating proceduresto reduce future discrepanciesbetween estimated andactual costs.
  • Identifiescost trends to assist management in cost reduction and processimprovementefforts.
  • Oversee and lead estimating processes on specific bids
  • Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain best possible pricing from subcontractors/vendors.

Do You Have What It Takes?
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 4+ years low voltage experience and/or training is required.
  • Previous experience as a Low Voltage Estimator is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Must be able and willing to learn other Estimation specific software’s and programs
  • Technical skills and the passion to always learn more. The ability to understand all aspects of the estimation process and continue to grow as business needs change.
