Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

  • The Monitoring Field Technician will report directly to a LDAR Manager and work closely with management to maintain customer requirements and satisfaction while verifying that the company’s goals and standards are met.
  • The Technician will be responsible for accurately monitoring components on an assigned route within an industrial facility, calibrating equipment to ensure optimum performance of the analyzer, and identifying leaks and process leak tags.
  • The Technician must use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to develop effective partnerships to meet mutual goals and objectives, demonstrating a strong ability to analyze data, evaluate situations, and identify problems or opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Report any incidents, injuries, near misses, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor and the Safety Department.
  • Monitor components in an industrial environment to detect emissions from process equipment using a portable analyzer and electronic data collector.
  • Perform monitoring activities for an assigned route within an allotted time, ensuring all components are accurately monitored and reported.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure optimum performance and make minor mechanical adjustments when necessary.
  • Identify leaks and process leak tags.
  • Complete daily uploads of monitoring activity to the customer database and emissions monitoring reports; basic computer knowledge is required.
  • Communicate daily leaks or potential issues with site personnel.
  • Coordinate with plant personnel.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The LDAR Technician could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions, including inclement weather. This job may require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and the ability to climb and work at heights of up to 300ft. Work may involve risks from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level may exceed 85dB, requiring hearing protection.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

6+ months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; basic PC skills with emphasis on MS Office Suite (Word, Excel); prior experience using a PDA device preferred; experience in chemical plants or refineries is helpful but not necessary.
