Job summary

FLEX is seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Security Operations Specialist to maintain, secure, and improve our IT infrastructure in Sandy, Utah. The role emphasizes automation, AI-assisted troubleshooting, and responsible tool use, with duties spanning virtualization, cloud, networking, and security operations.

You will build and maintain runbooks, support telephony and collaboration systems, and contribute to incident response and audits.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network operations, or security operations.
• Experience administering Linux servers, networks, cloud infrastructure, and virtualization (Xen Orchestra).
• Support telephony, email, identity, and collaboration systems.
• Manage firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, accounts, privileged access, and access-control processes.
• Monitor alerts, diagnose root causes, and apply fixes under change control.
• Contribute to incident response, security investigations, risk reduction, and audits.
• Build scripts to reduce manual work; use AI tools for troubleshooting and documentation, with proper validation.
• Maintain runbooks, diagrams, and knowledge-transfer materials; support client and internal issues, including after-hours or on-call work.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; work independently and escalate appropriately.
• Education: degree in IT; certifications preferred (Network+, Security+, Linux+, CCNA).

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Security Operations Specialist with 3 to 5 years of hands‑on IT experience. You will maintain, secure, and improve our infrastructure, bring new capability to the team, and help strengthen our automation and responsible use of AI tools.

Requirements

Systems: Administer Linux servers, networks, cloud infrastructure, and virtualization (Xen Orchestra), including capacity, availability, and recovery planning.

Services: Support telephony, email, identity, and collaboration systems.

Security: Manage firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, accounts, privileged access, and access‑control processes.

Operations: Monitor alerts, find root causes, and apply corrective and preventive fixes. Perform patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation under change control.

Incidents and compliance: Contribute to incident response, security investigations, risk reduction, and audit activities.

Automation and AI: Build scripts that reduce manual work. Use AI tools for troubleshooting, documentation, and analysis, validating output and assessing security, privacy, and accuracy risks.

Documentation and support: Maintain runbooks, diagrams, and knowledge‑transfer materials. Support client and internal issues, including occasional after‑hours or on‑call work.

Qualifications:

3 to 5 years in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network operations, or security operations.

Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.

Production troubleshooting using logs and monitoring alerts.

Security fundamentals: access control, patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint security, and secure configuration.

Virtualization and backup/recovery experience.

Scripting in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar.

Practical AI literacy: effective prompting, critical validation of results, and keeping sensitive data out of unapproved services.

Strong communication and documentation skills; works independently and escalates appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

Fortinet/FortiGate or comparable security platforms; Nagios, Zabbix, or similar monitoring.

Kubernetes, Rancher, PBX/VoIP, or Google Workspace.

Git, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management, or cloud platforms.

Applying AI to IT operations, plus understanding of AI governance and human review.

SOC 2 or PCI DSS exposure, including audit evidence collection.

Writing runbooks, improving processes, mentoring, or leading small initiatives.

Education and Certifications

Associate or bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A relevant certification is preferred (Network+, Security+, Linux+, CCNA, or a Linux, Microsoft, cloud, or security certification). Candidates should be ready to demonstrate applied skills through experience, projects, or practical exercises.
