Job summary

Wagner Equipment Co. is seeking an Experienced Hydraulic Component Rebuild Technician/Mechanic to perform disassembly and assembly of Caterpillar hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, hammers, valves and attachments per manufacturer specs.

The role emphasizes precision, safety, and teamwork within a dynamic service environment. Pay ranges from $29.11 to $50.00 per hour for 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) with potential for a 4-day work week.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in heavy equipment rebuild and repair of hydraulic components.
  • Disassembly and assembly of Caterpillar hydraulic components per manufacturer specs.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar hydraulics and components.
  • Commitment to safety and quality in repair work.

Responsibilities

  • Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements in preparing, inspecting, and rebuilding components.
  • Completes disassembly and assembly of Caterpillar hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, hammers, compactors, valves and attachments per manufacturer specifications.
  • Determines most cost-effective repair using Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Inspects parts for reuse and salvage; develops complete repair quotes.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area to meet dealership contamination control requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Opportunities to learn and rebuild Caterpillar engines and powertrain components.

Pay: $29.11 - $50.00 per hour 2nd Shift: 2:00PM - 10:30PM + Shift Differential. May include the opportunity for a 4 day work week. Pay is dependent upon education & experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES UNDER MINIMAL SUPERVISION
  • Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements in preparing, inspecting, and rebuilding of components.
  • Completes disassembly and assembly of Caterpillar hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, hydraulic hammers, compactors, valves and other hydraulic attachments according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Determines most cost-effective repair using Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Inspection of parts for reuse and salvage, ability to develop complete and accurate repair quotes
  • Maintains clean organized work area to meet dealership contamination control requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Additional opportunities to learn and rebuild Caterpillar Engines, fuel systems, cylinder heads, transmissions, torque converters, final drives, wheel stations, differentials, and other powertrain components for repair and/or complete overhaul.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Provides direction, training, mentoring and guidance to assigned service technicians
Minimum Experience/Education Preferred:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education degree or certificate in diesel or automotive preferred
  • 3+ years in heavy equipment rebuild and repair of Hydraulic Components.
Physical Demands & Competencies:
  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Squatting/Kneeling
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Heavy work that includes carrying, lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Basic ability to search for and enter data into a computer
  • Ability to type service reports
