Job summary

Cheer Home Care in La Jolla, San Diego County, is actively hiring experienced hospice caregivers to provide compassionate, non-medical end-of-life care in clients homes. You will assist with ADLs, mobility, comfort measures, and companionship, ensuring clients remain comfortable and dignified in familiar surroundings.

We offer 12-hour shifts, flexible full- or part-time schedules, hourly pay of $20-$23, weekly payments, and benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company

Qualifications

• 1-2 years direct hospice or palliative care experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
• Must have cell phone with internet access.
• Must be able to drive client in their own vehicle (mileage reimbursable).

Responsibilities

• Assist with essential activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bed baths, hygiene, dressing, and skin care.
• Utilize mobility equipment (hoyer lifts/transfer boards) to reposition bedbound clients safely.
• Monitor condition changes, track vital signs, and communicate updates to the supervising nurse and team.
• Provide compassionate companionship and supportive presence for clients and grieving families.
• Perform light housekeeping, meal preparation aligned with dietary needs, and maintain a restful home environment.

As a Hospice Caregiver at Cheer Home Care, you will provide compassionate, non-medical end-of-life care and palliative support to seniors and adults with terminal illnesses. Drawing on your background in hospice or palliative care, your main focus will be on delivering gentle personal care, specialized comfort measures, emotional support, and homemaking assistance; all designed to help our clients remain as comfortable and peaceful as possible in the familiar surrounding of home.

Your clinical experience, steady presence, and empathetic touch will make a profound difference when it matters most. On a typical day, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with essential activities of daily living (ADLs), including bed baths, gentle hygiene, dressing, and skin care.
• Utilizing specialized mobility equipment (such as hoyer lifts or transfer boards) to safely reposition and comfort bedbound clients.
• Supporting comfort care plans by monitoring changes in condition, tracking vital signs, and promptly communicating updates to the supervising nurse and interdisciplinary team.
• Providing compassionate companionship and a calm, reassuring presence for both the client and their grieving family members.
• Managing light housekeeping, essential meal preparation suited to dietary needs, and maintaining a clean, restful care environment.

• Minimum of 1-2 years of direct caregiving experience in a hospice, palliative care, home health, or long-term care setting.
• Proven experience managing end-of-life care, comfort measures, and pain management support.
• Ability to safely lift, push, pull, or position patients (typically up to 50 lbs unassisted).
• Cell phone with internet access
• Must be able to drive client in their own personal vehicle (mileage reimbursable)
• Strong organizational & communication skills
• Certifications that are preferred but NOT required: CNA, HHA, CPR, First Aid, AED
