Experienced Heavy Equipment Finish Operator
Job Summary
The Experienced Heavy Equipment Finish Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment on a construction jobsite in a safe manner. They will stay current on GPS Grade Control Systems, ensuring their ability to effectively and efficiently operate all necessary equipment. The Experienced Heavy Equipment Finish Operator must complete prestart checks, assist with fluid checks, securing the equipment, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to company policy, as well as manufacturer's guidelines
- Performing daily maintenance and safety checks along with routine maintenance on equipment and machines
- May operate trucks to transport equipment to and from job sites as required
- Responsible for reporting problems and malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and / or shop foreman
- Ability to correctly operate grade control technology.
- Cleaning equipment as required
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment, secure job site and equipment at the end of each day
- Foster civil interactions and relationships in the workplace
- Uphold acceptable attendance
- Is a productive team member that supports the team by traveling assisting where needed.
- Comply with all applicable safety, environment, health and waste management policies and procedures
- Ability to handle stress while adhering to the code of conduct and company safety policy

The Experienced Heavy Equipment Finish Operator may operate, but not limited to, the following equipment and must be proficient at the following tasks.
- Excavator
- Finish Blade
- Bulldozer
- Front-end Loader
- Scrapers
- Motor Grader
- Pavers
- Trimmers
- Mixers
- Compactors
- Stringless Grade Control
- Machine Control Experience
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Climb ladder 8-10 feet to access equipment operating station
- Keep equipment moving along specified path to ensure equipment is processing material to required specifications
- Remove excess built up material at the end of shift using a scrapper and shovel, periodically the Equipment Operator may need to use jack or chipping hammers
- Working outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
Job Requirements and Education
- Over 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, Class A CDL is preferred
- Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical
- High school education or GED equivalent
Preferred Experience
At least 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment finish operator.
