Job summary

Maguire seeks a Shop Welder to weld, cut, and braze metal pieces for the new tank division, using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The role demands strong welding techniques and the ability to produce quality work on time.

The position is a 12-hour Friday–Sunday shift, with a 36-hour schedule paid as 40 hours when conditions are met. Candidates must be able to handle physical requirements and work safely in a fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of FCAW welding experience.
• Must pass a company weld test.
• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance, and repair.
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools for precise production of technical plans and blueprints.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments.
• Basic understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.
• Must be able to weld components in vertical, flat, or overhead positions.
• Must have manual dexterity and stability for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications.
• Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion.
• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
• Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

Job description

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment for the new tank division. The position will require good knowledge of welding techniques and have the ability to produce quality work.

This shift operatesFriday, Saturday, and Sunday; 12-hour days (6:00am-6:30pm). Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 as long as specific conditions are met!

Essential Functions:

• Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
• Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
