Job summary

Maguire in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a skilled Shop Welder to join our fabrication and tank division. You will weld, cut, and braze metal parts using flame-cutting and hand welding techniques to produce quality components for water storage tanks and elevated towers.

Must be able to work Friday–Sunday 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, lift up to 50 pounds, and maintain a clean, safe work area while following established procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with welding and brazing metal components.

Responsibilities

• Schedule: Fri, Sat, Sun 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM; 36 hours paid for 40 if requirements met.
• Fabricates and repairs items using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
• Monitors welding process to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion.
• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and work area.
• Notifies supervisor of faulty equipment or materials.

Job description

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment for the new tank division. The position will require good knowledge of welding techniques and have the ability to produce quality work.

Essential Functions:

• Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM. Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 if requirements are met.

• Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.

• Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.

• Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.

• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.

• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.

• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

Work Environment:

• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.

• Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
