Position
Field Service Class A Technician or Journeyman Technician.
Pay Range
$36.50 – $52.60 per hour (dependent on education and experience).
Essential Functions
- Maintain truck and crane inspection logs daily.
- Complete CAT service reports daily with legible, grammatically correct content and appropriate SIMS code.
- Transmit photos, timecards, service reports, and other information via e‑mail.
- Maintain customer job records and credit card receipts for accounting.
- Collaborate with the Service, Product Support, and Sales Departments to meet customer needs.
- Communicate with customers regarding diagnostics, repair status, parts, and other concerns.
- Teach and coach other technicians in the field.
- Promote Wagner Equipment Co. to customers.
- Accurately troubleshoot and repair CAT equipment on the first attempt.
- Interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics for repair work.
- Safely rig or hook components for lifting.
- Remove, repair, and install major components in various equipment configurations.
- Maintain tooling in good working order per MSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Determine warranty repairs and guidelines in the field, communicating decisions to customer and dispatcher.
- Maintain the service vehicle in safe and good repair.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Required Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Relevant CAT‑related courses.
- 5+ years’ experience servicing heavy equipment.
- 1+ year of administrative/clerical experience.
- 3+ years of customer service experience.
- 3+ years of sales experience.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- DOT Health Card.
- Class A Driver’s License.
- MSHA License.
- Pass all required pre‑employment screenings (background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit‑for‑duty testing, and other job‑related tests).
Physical Demands & Competencies
- Standing, walking, talking, sitting, and use of hands & hearing.
- Data entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication, and math skills.
- Safety & product knowledge.
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, etc.
- Heavy work that includes lifting/moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
- Intermediate knowledge of DBS.
- Intermediate knowledge of ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW.
- Work independently with little or no direction.
- Well‑rounded knowledge of CAT equipment.
