Qualifications

  • Assist with data center infrastructure and power supply issues; support transactions by addressing FERC issues.
  • Counsel on rules, tariffs, market design, and regulatory developments for PJM, NYISO, MISO, and ISO‑NE.
  • Prepare and review FERC filings, pleadings, comments, and compliance submissions with stakeholders.

Job description

Overview
  • This is a part-time role.
  • Advise energy-sector clients on federal regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters, leveraging deep knowledge of the Federal Power Act, FERC proceedings, and organized wholesale electricity markets.
  • Represent power marketers, electric utilities, and independent power producers before FERC, addressing regulatory, compliance, enforcement, and policy matters.
  • Assist with issues involving data center infrastructure and power supply arrangements, and support commercial transactions (including mergers, acquisitions, financings, and asset transactions) by identifying and resolving FERC-related issues.
  • Counsel clients on rules, tariffs, market design, and regulatory developments affecting organized wholesale markets, including PJM, NYISO, MISO, and ISO New England.
  • Prepare and review FERC filings, pleadings, comments, and compliance submissions, working closely with clients, transaction teams, and industry stakeholders to develop practical regulatory strategies.
  • Requires substantial experience practicing federal energy regulatory law before FERC, and experience advising on FERC implications in corporate and project finance transactions.
  • A strong understanding of wholesale electric markets, electric utility regulation, and regional transmission organization/independent system operator rules is essential, along with the ability to manage complex matters independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
