Job summary

Joseph Michaels International seeks an experienced Elder Care & Estate Planning Attorney to join our team in Melville, NY. This full-time, in-office role focuses on estate planning, trust administration, elder law, and related tax matters, working with a collaborative team to build lasting client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in trust and estate planning, NY Bar admission, and a strong command of fiduciary tax law.

Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility).
• 3+ years in trust and estate planning and administration.
• Strong knowledge of estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax law.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and client-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on all aspects of estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
• Counsel wealth transfer strategies, charitable giving, and tax planning.
• Administer trusts and estates, including probate and related filings.
• Draft, review, and interpret complex estate planning documents and trust agreements.
• Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to implement comprehensive estate plans.
• Handle guardianship and elder law matters (Medicaid planning).
• Maintain ongoing client relationships and provide exceptional client service.
