Qualifications

Our vision for a different kind of specialty hospital was inspired by numerous discussions of the ongoing shortage of specialty services and the need for a real connection between specialists, general practitioners and our patients. Community Care Veterinary Specialists, in beautiful Gainesville, Florida, is a privately owned small animal speciality hospital in North Central Florida.
We are seeking a Full-time Veterinary Technician to join our team and fill our day-time, mid-shift, and overnight ER/CC roles. The ideal candidate must be mature, motivated, and have excellent communication skills. We offer great benefits after 60 days of employment.

Qualifications:
  • Three to five years of Veterinary Medicine Experience, specifically in Emergency, Surgery, or Speciality practice.
  • Knowledge of animal care and nursing, especially critical care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of the equipment and materials used and their availability and applications.
  • Comfort running the floor and managing clinic flow for inpatient and outpatient circumstances
  • Qualified candidates are excellent communications and multi-taskers, who are able to work independently, and as part of a team. They should be detail oriented and able to provide exceptional customer service and professional client communication.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs.
  • CVT preferred but not required.

Duties:
  • Veterinary Technicians handle in person, email and telephone interaction, maintenance of veterinary medical records, reviewing recommended treatments and procedures, as well as, discuss discharge and after-care with owners.
  • Provide coaching and training to team-mates.
  • Administer medications, treatments per DVM instruction, documenting all steps within PM software
  • Respond quickly and calmly to crisis while maintaining a high standard of client care.
  • Communication: Convey messages to clients and teammates to ensure successful patient and client care.
  • Patience & Compassion: Remain professional while still ensuring doctors, teammates, clients, and patients feel as comfortable as possible regardless of the situation or challenges presented.
  • Additional skills include: small animal restraint and handling; basic and advanced nursing care; mastered venipuncture and IV catheterization; ability to calculate and administer specific. medications; lab sample handling and running in-house lab equipment; anesthesia monitoring and troubleshooting; general knowledge of veterinary medicine, including basic knowledge of emergency medicine and procedures.

This position participates in weekend and holiday rotations.
