Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking an experienced engineer for the Stern Area System and TSMS team. The role focuses on supporting shipboard construction, integration, and test procedure development to prepare for fleet operations.

The successful candidate will interact with Electric Boat management, Navy offices, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, Ships Force, and ISEA, and must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Civil, Marine, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Electronics, or Computer Science.
• 5+ years of post graduate professional engineering experience.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance.
• Knowledge/ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and diagrams; familiarity with shipbuilding specifications and manuals.
• Experience with system integration, test procedures, and ship construction.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Stern Area System (SAS) and TSMS team has seen significant growth over the past few years and has an opening for an experienced engineer.

D440 is a unique engineering organization with a range of responsibilities. Specific projects will include supporting shipboard construction and integration, test procedure development and preparation, and supporting the fleet with troubleshooting once the systems are in use.

In this construction support role, engineers will interface with engineers of various disciplines, Electric Boat management, Electric Boat Program Offices, Navy Laboratories, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, Ships Force and ISEA.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Civil, Marine, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Electronics, or Computer Science
• 5+ years of post graduate professional engineering experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance

Preferred

• Knowledge in or ability to learn how read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical diagrams construction drawings, equipment drawings, and vendor equipment manuals and be familiar with shipbuilding specifications, technical manuals and other source documentation
• Interest in learning about or had experience with electromechanical systems
• Experience in developing test procedures
• Experience in integration and test of complex systems
• Experience in ship construction
• Experience in system level testing and troubleshooting
