Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Connecticut seeks a senior electrical engineer to design, develop, test and deliver electrical systems for submarines. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on diagrams, interfaces and cable routing to ensure system integrity.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and 10+ years of post‑graduate engineering experience.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar electrical education.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • 10+ years of post-graduate engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review changes to electrical system diagrams including system interfaces.
  • Evaluate electrical cableways design and routing drawings.
  • Troubleshoot issues identified by construction team.
  • Write procedures to test and maintain electrical systems.
  • Interface with internal customers to ensure the system is installed to plan.
  • Work with operations to support installation and test.
  • Review and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or similar electrical education (BS degree)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Level Clearance
  • 10 or more years of post graduate engineering experience

Preferred

  • Prior defense contractor systems engineering experience
  • Former submarine service
  • Shipyard/manufacturing experience
