Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL, is seeking an experienced RN to provide comprehensive nursing care on a full-time, day shift. Eligible clinicians can earn salary increases through the Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, development, and advancement criteria.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills – navigate Windows-based programs.
  • Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written).
  • Equipment use to stabilize and monitor patients and EMR systems.
  • Proficient clinical skills, critical thinking, and strong communication.
  • Commitment to hourly patient rounding and EKG interpretation class.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple duties in stressful situations.
  • General nursing knowledge and pharmacological delivery principles.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document accurate initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate patient conditions and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses.
  • Supervise nursing personnel and ensure safe, therapeutic care.
  • Educate patients and families about the care plan, medications, and procedures.
  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures and prepare patients for tests.
  • Monitor lab work and report abnormal results for action.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate with the healthcare team to stabilize patients.

Job Description

Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines. Perform and document accurate initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate patient conditions and needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to address identified patient needs and goals. Administer medications accurately and appropriately as ordered, monitoring patient responses and adjusting interventions as necessary. Supervise and guide nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Provide patient and family education about the care plan, medications, procedures, and other relevant information to ensure understanding and compliance. Assist physicians with bedside procedures and prepare patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries. Monitor patient lab work for trends and report abnormal results for necessary actions. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to policies, procedures, and infection control protocols. Document all pertinent patient care information accurately and timely in the patient's medical record. Participate in quality improvement and research activities by engaging in unit-based initiatives and evidence-based practice projects. Respond effectively to emergencies by providing necessary interventions and coordinating with the healthcare team to stabilize patients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • [Required] Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs.
  • [Required] Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills).
  • [Required] Equipment use to stabilize and monitor patients (IV insertion, central lines, pulse ox, NG tubes, Foley, chest tubes, hemodynamics monitoring), including electronic medical record and automated dispensing medication system (pyxis).
  • [Required] Proficient clinical skills, critical thinking skills, and strong communication skills.
  • [Required] Commitment to hourly patient rounding and EKG interpretation class.
  • [Required] Frequent independent judgment, sound professional judgment and critical-thinking skills in clinical situations, including clinical assessment, data, and patient response.
  • [Required] Ability to continuously prioritize multiple duties and function in a calm and professional manner during stressful situations.
  • [Required] General knowledge of professional nursing principles and techniques, and the pharmacological process in the appropriate administration or delivery of medications.
  • [Required] Skill to maintain effective working relationships with health professionals and others to create an environment conducive to carrying out the mission of the facility.
  • [Required] Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively to direct the overall professional nursing services in a manner which encourages the open exchange of ideas and information.
  • [Required] Will float to appropriate departments within scope, skill/ability, and credentials.
  • [Required] Organizational and multi-tasking skills, knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures, and the ability to work as a team player within a unit.
