Job summary

The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff is hiring multiple permanent, full-time Experienced Deputy Sheriffs (EDS) in Maryland. The role requires at least one year as a certified full-time Police Officer or qualified law enforcement officer and a valid driver’s license.

Deputies will perform patrol, court security, warrants service, transports, and related duties across the County and state. This essential position may require working any of three shifts to ensure 24-hour security.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen and eligible to work in the United States.
• High School diploma or GED is required.
• At least 21 years of age at time of application.
• At least 1 year as a certified full-time Police Officer or qualified law enforcement officer.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and at least 6 months post-license driving experience.
• Pass all qualification factors and registered with Selective Service.
• Willing to be an essential employee.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective and efficient law enforcement services to residents of Prince George's County.
• Perform general law enforcement and investigations, serving warrants and extraditing persons.
• Transport prisoners to and from courts and facilities throughout the state.
• Arrest, detain, and process prisoners in custody of the Sheriff’s Office.
• Serve civil processes and writs; execute court orders.
• Maintain security in Circuit and District Courtrooms.
• Monitor prisoners in holding areas and assist with court-related evictions.
• Complete required reports and documentation.
