Job description

We are seeking a full-time dental assistant who brings technical precision, emotional intelligence, and professionalism to every interaction. This role is designed for an experienced assistant who understands that exceptional dentistry is built on both clinical excellence and meaningful human connection.

About the Practice

A modern dental office in Gambrills, MD is dedicated to elevating every aspect of the patient experience. Our team blends meticulous dentistry with a calming environment, helping patients feel at ease while receiving uncompromising care. We value team members who take ownership of their role, care deeply about doing things well, and approach their work with both discipline and compassion.

The Role

This is more than a typical assisting position. The ideal candidate brings impeccable chairside skills, a calming presence, and the flexibility to support front desk functions when needed. You are attentive, proactive, and able to anticipate what both the dentist and the patient need throughout the day. The dental assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the rhythm of the practice. Strong preparation, precise execution, and clear communication help ensure each appointment runs smoothly and every patient feels genuinely supported.

You Are

Clinically sharp with at least four years of hands‑on chairside experience and a deep commitment to doing the work exceptionally well. You are punctual, organized, and self-driven, someone who arrives prepared and stays ahead of the day without being asked. You lead from your seat, take initiative naturally, and bring a level of discipline and ownership that makes the entire team better. You are calm and deeply empathetic with patients, a strong communicator who knows how to put people at ease without losing focus on the clinical task at hand. You are comfortable navigating fast‑paced days without losing precision, and you adapt quickly and learn eagerly when new challenges or procedures come your way. You hold yourself to high clinical and ethical standards, take genuine pride in every detail of your work, and understand that the patient experience is shaped just as much by how people feel in the chair as by the quality of care they receive.

Qualifications

Certified Dental Assistant with Radiology and CPR certifications, minimum four years chairside experience, strong infection control knowledge, familiarity with dental practice management software such as Oryx, Eaglesoft, or similar systems, experience capturing high‑quality dental radiographs, comfort operating digital imaging systems and modern dental equipment, and experience assisting across restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, or pediatric procedures. Front desk cross‑training preferred.

What You'll Do

Chairside Excellence Deliver precise, compassionate assistance throughout the clinical day using four‑handed dentistry techniques, ensuring procedures run smoothly and patients feel supported from start to finish.

Clinical Preparation and Organization Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment to the highest standards of infection control, sterilization, and clinical readiness.

Diagnostic Imaging Capture high‑quality dental radiographs and operate digital imaging systems and modern dental equipment with accuracy and confidence.

Patient Communication and Education Take medical histories, document patient information accurately, and educate patients on post‑operative care, oral hygiene, and treatment instructions with clarity and warmth.

Team and Administrative Support Assist with scheduling, patient flow, inventory management, and front desk functions as needed to keep the practice running efficiently and cohesively.
